PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK(BOOK REVIEW)

Author: Joan Lindsey

Genre: Mystery

Description.

This takes place in Australia and is about a group of boarding school girls who go to picnic at a place called Hanging Rock. While at the picnic 3 girls and a teacher go missing.

I loved the writing in this book. I loved the author’s ability to create an eerie and unsettling atmosphere with the writing. I was never sure what was happening or what was going to happen thanks to the power of her writing. One important thing to note while reading this book is that solving the mystery is not really the goal, it is about what the disappearance of these girls does to the society that they’re in. It starts with one little thing and then it escalates and escalates and beauty as well as the ugliness of the consequences are exposed. Personally i was surprised at what the book had turned out to be and the ending as well. It was truly a mystery from beginning to end and the author leaves a lot of things to our imaginations. I recommend this book to fans of mystery and for anyone looking for an unsettling read.

My rating: 3.5/5 stars.
